  • Do not act immediately on your emotions.
  • Do not rush.
Step 2: “How do we know?” — Ask questions.
  • Who says so?
  • What is the source?
  • Is it a fact, an opinion, or an assumption?
Step 3: “Is there evidence?” — Look for evidence.
  • Is specific information provided?
  • Are there other sources?
  • Are there dates or just strong words?
Step 4: “Am I seeing the whole picture?” — Compare perspectives.
  • Is there another opinion?
  • What does this text not say?
  • Does it emphasise only one part of reality?
Step 5: “What should I do now?” — Make a decision.
  • Do I have enough information?
  • Am I acting solely on emotion?
  • Am I certain?
